Hello and Welcome!
My name is Deborah and I am the owner of Skoochie Coo! I create high quality, long lasting, unique items for the whole family. I also enjoy offering sewing classes in southeast Saskatchewan.
I am mama to 3 girls who inspire much of my sewing. I was fortunate to learn from many wonderful sewing mentors from a young age and when I became busy sewing for my own babies, Skoochie Coo was born! My business has grown over the last 11 years and I am happy to have both expanded my own skills and been able to share those skills with beginners of all ages during that time.
Contributing to my local community has always been important to me. All of the items in my shop are hand made by myself here in Saskatchewan. I strive to source my fabrics from Canadian-owned small businesses. Some of my fabrics feature hand painted designs from Canadian artists as well. I carefully select fabrics of the highest quality, often certified under Organic and/or Oeko-Tex fabric standards.
Eco-friendly practices are a priority at Skoochie Coo. Fabric scraps are turned into small hats for NICU babies, dog beds for local rescues, or passed on to some of the young sewists in my classes. Empty fabric spools are donated to local childcare facilities for craft projects. With these practices in place, we actually only send about one small garbage bag to the landfill every month!
